How do we manage to do everything remotely?
The process is divided into four main stages: Qualification, Document Preparation, Virtual Divorce Services, and Court Filing.
1. Drafting the documents
- Pre-Qualification: Clients begin by clicking “SEE IF YOU QUALIFY” and completing a two-part questionnaire.
- After completing the questionnaire and making the initial payment ($245 or 2x$149), a Divorce Portal account is created.
- The Petitioner completes a detailed Interview Questionnaire (Big Questionnaire), after which the Respondent receives a shorter version of the Big Questionnaire
- Additional data may be requested via email or with secure submission links.
- Once completed, a paralegal reviews the answers. Based on the review, the case is either accepted, conditionally accepted (more info required), or rejected.
- Upon acceptance and confirmation of payment, documents are drafted.
- Clients receive a secure link to review and approve each document online, with an option to leave comments for revisions.
2. Divorce Documents Authorization
- Authorization to proceed is confirmed once the Petitioner and Respondent both:
- Approve drafted documents
- Sign the Attorney Services Agreement online
3. Signing and Notarizing the Divorce Documents
After approval, documents are locked for editing and prepared for signing.
Clients are prompted to digitally sign required forms. Signature-only documents are handled separately from those requiring notarization.
Examples of signature-only documents include the Cover Sheet, Notice of Related Cases, and Child Support Worksheet.
Remote Online Notarization (RON) is conducted via the BlueNotary platform using Zoom.
Clients are queued for appointments (no fixed time), available from 8 AM to 9 PM EST.
Identity is verified, and documents are digitally signed in front of the Notary.
Separate sessions are held for Petitioner and Respondent.
Notarized documents are securely stored in pCloud, along with draft and signed versions.
Required documents for the Phase 2 vary depending on whether the case involves children.
4. E-Filing the Divorce Documents to Court
Once all documents are signed and notarized, the Petitioner pays the Index Court Filing fee ($230 Index Court Fee). This fee goes directly to the court and is not refundable.
Paralegal Assistant ensures all documents and fees are in place and marks the case as ready.
Paralegal e-files the case through NYSCEF.
The Court sends confirmation emails with the Case Number and list of filed documents.
Additional required documents (Cover Letter and Judgment Proposal) are sent via the Courts Divorce Portal.
Case statuses are synchronized, and progress is tracked through our internal CRM.
Final judgment typically takes 3 weeks to 6 months. Once granted, our team sends final documents to both parties.
Our team updates CRM and notifies both Petitioner and Respondent when the divorce is officially granted.
