Online notarization process

Online notarization process

Online notarization is a legally required step to finalize your divorce documents. Because it involves a licensed notary providing a secure, recorded service through a verified platform, it must be handled — and charged — separately from document preparation. No matter if you are going through the divorce process online or in person, you will have to notarize your documents.

Please note that you will be able to choose if you want to proceed with this process or continue with the Self-Filing option. Therefore, the documents will be sent to your spouse for approval once the payment is made, as a part of the confirmation that you will proceed with our services.

How the Online Notarization Process Works:

  1. Access the Notary Session:

    1. After your divorce documents are prepared, you will receive a link to access the secure online notary platform.

    2. You can complete the notarization using a smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer that has a camera, microphone, and internet connection.

  2. Verify Your Identity:

    1. Before the session starts, you must pass a secure identity verification process.

    2. The online notary tool will automatically confirm your identity by analyzing your ID verification documents (review the list of acceptable ID verification documents)

  3. Connect with a Live Notary:

    1. You will join the “waiting room” with other clients, where you will be able to see how many notaries are available at the moment, and what is the expected time to initiate the notari session.

    2. When your turn comes you will join a live, real-time video call with a licensed notary.

    3. After the successful verification, The notary will once more visually confirm your identity, review your documents with you, and guide you through the signing process.

  4. Sign the Documents:

    1. You will electronically sign the documents during the video session.

    2. The notary will electronically apply their official seal and signature to complete the notarization.

    3. The signing session usually lasts about 5min - 10min
